Carrie Armstrong

“Living life as art… Metalsmithing accentuates the ride.”

With a metal-rich background of welding, Carrie was first introduced to metal form, patina, cutting, filing and soldering by an Italian metal sculpture artist in the nineties. Every handmade piece is individually created in her studio and approached with instinctive vision. With an emphasis on unique, high-quality natural gemstones, her timeless designs are inspired by craftsmanship, metal form, and texture.
Without sacrificing elegance, Carrie’s pieces are meant to be easily wearable and formed to the body. She brings her own unique talent and artistry to her works, guided by her creative approach to visceral experiences.

Carrie graduated with a BFA from Southern Oregon University with an emphasis in printmaking. Etching, engraving and an understanding of metal properties became additional tools lending to art explorations in metal work. She studied under master goldsmith Karl Lee and currently works a bench studio in the Pacific Northwest on the family bench of Karl Lee Big Sur.
