American born, German trained and based, Patrick Malotki was a founding member of the influential young design group Juni. The artist celebrates the power of togetherness in a society that often glorifies division. Dividing and reuniting is the principle that follows his jewelry creations.
His crackle compositions show this in a unique and stunning way: two parts, each the mirror-image of the other, elegantly and precisely unite to create a single whole. The ensuing crackle is impressive on its own or, thanks to the inherent tension of the material, it can securely hold a radiant diamond, or even a pure gold or platinum nugget.
