Julia Turner
Julia Turner is a jeweler and artist known for her inventive approach to materials and form.
With meticulous craftsmanship and an organic sensibility, she creates sculptural, wearable pieces that explore texture, color, and composition in unexpected ways. Blending techniques such as carving, fabricating, and hot and cold connections, Turner pushes the boundaries of traditional jewelry-making, challenging conventional ideas of adornment while remaining both wearable and deeply engaging. By merging raw and refined elements, she crafts pieces that function as small, sculptural studies in material interaction.
Her creative process is driven by an exploration of the interplay between human-made and natural elements, embracing the beauty of chance and imperfection.
Turner’s award-winning work has been exhibited internationally and featured in numerous publications. She earned her M.F.A. in 1995 and has taught extensively, most recently at the California College of the Arts and the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts. As both an artist and educator, she remains deeply committed to material experimentation and technical innovation.
