A Modernist Walk

“Ultimately, my aim is to create jewelry that transcends mere adornment, inviting the wearer into a world of tactile wonder and visual delight that engages not only the adorned but encourages conversation between the wearer and viewer, all the while accompanying the wearer throughout their own journey”

Heather Guidero has developed a language of composition and materials that communicates her unique sensibilities and contemporary aesthetic.

She creates an illusion of space in depth that one could imagine oneself walking into, composing abstract works of wearable art with an emphasis on movement and texture.

Guidero’s love early on for drawing everything in sight has evolved into her aesthetic today. Her jewelry and appreciation for the natural world unfolds as she utilizes line and shape to communicate an opulent collage of modernist adornment and geometric glamour. Using innovative construction, with an emphasis on form and technique, Guidero accents her work with ethically sourced gemstones that reside beautifully on and around the body.

Formally trained at Rhode Island School of Design Heather worked as a goldsmith for renowned jewelry company Reinstein Ross in New York before returning to Providence, Rhode Island, to launch her namesake collection in 2005.

“My journey as a jeweler has led me to accumulate a trove of treasures over the years, each gemstone a potential protagonist awaiting its moment to take center stage and shine”
Heather Guidero

Inspired by elements of modernist design, apparel, and architecture, Guidero utilizes an artistic language to create structural beauty among her oeuvre of works.

The artists ongoing exploration of volume and pattern renders strong textured curvature and modern design in recycled high karat gold and silver into static and movable sculptures The use of wire and thin sheets allows her to incorporate numerous shapes into larger forms that are lightweight, enabling the jewelry to come alive when worn. Every piece is constructed and finished by hand in her Providence studio.

“Each piece is a testament to beautiful possibilities made real by precisely honed hand skills and carefully considered materials, a tangible expression of my process from inspiration to realization”
Heather Guidero
