New Discoveries 2024
Each year, Allison travels in search of a wondrous treasure trove to share with our cherished friends and collectors.
Continuously on an exploration for new discoveries, this year she has drawn her attention to rich golden metals, contrasting vibrant color, graceful lines and movement.
Allison is thrilled to introduce her newest jewelry curation in a myriad of gemstones, metals and textures that grandly display refined and rich patinas to create pieces with innovative craftmanship and natural beauty.
“Each year in the spring, when I visit artists and meet new ones, I am filled with wonder for what I will discover. My excitement is palpable, and I can’t wait to share new collections of works with you, our cherished friends and collectors”
Allison Buchsbaum
Among Allison’s curation, strong contrasts of color, shape and proportion are armored with intimate and organic movement. Goldsmiths Barbara Heinrich and Petra Class delicately script designs to cumulate into adornment that speak to the soul. Luscious hues of color vibrate across their collections, lighting up as they lie upon the body.
Fascinated by line, form, and space, metalsmiths Batho Gündra, Erich Zimmermann and new artist, Berlin-based Friederike Maltz, compose jewelry that eloquently pairs with the body, intimately inspired by the natural world. Gündra and Zimmerman imagine adornment of clear elegance and functionality, composing works of exalted structure and proportion, while Maltz’s work creates a marriage between line and shape to compose earrings that are delicate geometric forms floating in space, functionally conceived down to the last detail. All display an extraordinary illustration of the artist’s process in the form, function and feeling of the resulting piece.
New beguiling and emotive collections by Peter Schmid of Atelier Zobel can be seen across the curation. Schmid’s level of craftsmanship, design and style conjure endless fascination as his brilliant expressions continue to astound. Each treasure is made explicitly for the wearer in mind, evident in every curve and innovating detail.
Moved by a complexity of vibrant golden forms and texture, artists Fatih Yazicioglu and JS Noor bring varied ideas to a contemporary frontier across their newest works.
Yazicioglu’s collection is comprised of unique one-of-a-kind, handmade, solid 24K gold and gold/silver jewelry, set with precious and semiprecious gemstones. Often intricate with unique handwork, his designs merge ancient cultures and archaeology with modern-day themes and influence. Jehangir Singh Noor, the creative genius of JS Noor, designs works that inspire the wearer’s ongoing growth or rebirth with jewelry infused with mystical qualities. The transcendent nature of jewels by Noor reflects the Indian and Tibetan view that we are not only born but also reborn, and where in a cyclical world, collective experiences come together to unite the heart and soul.
Further highlights of Allison’s discoveries include Barbara Decker, Timo Krapf, and Doerthe Fuchs, Jaqueline Ryan, and Hilde Janich.
