Peter Schmid earns high praise every year from his Santa Fe collectors and fans for presenting jewelry that is intriguing to the eye and sensuous to the touch.

Schmid is the creative force behind Atelier Zobel, the famous art jewelry studio in Konstanz, Germany. For 16 straight seasons, Patina Gallery has featured an exhibition of Zobel’s dramatic new pieces.

"What I make is very personal, a woman wearing a piece completes the process. The piece is nice in the gallery display, but the moment a person puts it on, they become complete. That is a great moment for me"

Unparalleled refinement and complexity define Schmid’s designs. His signature fused-metal technique is always striking: organic, expressive and ultramodern.

"My jewelry is big and bold, but it has a human touch to it,” Schmid says. “I like emotion in any direction. You have to bring your personality and that is what connects."
