Wearing Red: Ignite the Fire
“Red is the great clarifier—bright, cleansing, and revealing. It makes all other colors beautiful. I can’t imagine becoming bored with red—it would be like becoming bored with the person you love”

We invite you to indulge your senses and fuel your souls with an unparalleled collection of art jewelry featuring masterful makers and their works, celebrating the captivating and rich historical color: red.
The color red has woven a rich and diverse tapestry throughout human history, leaving an indelible mark on art, culture, and symbolism. At its core, red isn’t just a color; it’s a visceral force that invokes life and death, love and evil, warmth and destruction. A color of vitality, passion, good fortune, and celebration, red has undeniable energy innately aligned and followed across the globe.
“On the occasion of my 30th anniversary representing international contemporary jewelry art during NYC Jewelry Week 2023, I decided to use the theme RED. Seeing the works all displayed together revealed surprising underlying connections worldwide with the color red. The wide variety, combinations and uses of materials enlightened me further about the multiple interpretations of the color red”
Curator, Charon Kransen
From deep red hues in hand-dyed materials to the vibrant tones across metals, each composition expresses the drama and eye-catching connection between art and the color red.
Included in the exhibition will be a video lecture by renowned art historian and curator Nichka Marobin.
“The lecture for the exhibition ‘RED’ by Charon Kransen will focus on a cultural and historical journey throughout the color red. Conceived as a tarot draw where each card can be read and interpreted in different ways, depending on which side one picks up the card, the lecture will show an overview of the different meanings of red color from ancient times up to modernity, highlighting its cultural, social and visual impact in our lives”
Nichka Marobin, Art Historian & Curator
