18K & 22K yellow gold, silk cord, Chinese jade
Alexandra acquired this Chinese jade disk in the 1970's in an antique store in Boston on Charles Street. At that time, Boston still had lots of artifacts from the China trade (18th and 19th century). A curator of the Asian department at the MFA pronounced it an 18th century copy of a 2000 year old Chinese jade disk. Alexandra left the disk to speak for itself, only the gold top scroll references the jade's hydra curves. The silk cord was hand dyed and woven by Wendy Ingram.
