With Spider, Betsy says, "The eyes.  Eyes have been a mainstay of my work for 40 years.  The eyes can represent so many things.  They are a veil or portal between worlds.  They represent being watched over and protected.  I start each piece by figuring out the eyes.  As we learn about the dynamic of being observed in physics I think it is interesting that eyes do just that.  We become as we are observed."
