18K & 22K yellow gold fused over sterling silver, inlaid Louisiana fossilized palm wood, Oregon Bruneau jasper, mother of pearl, black jade and turquoise - Circa 1993
This spectacular brooch from Jeff and Susan Wise is a piece of multiple parts. It was created in 1993 using untreated stones and with intricately inlaid material set in high karat gold. The master makers created a collage of contrast and color on the upper panel of the brooch. On the lower panel, gold is fused to sterling silver adding a luminous glow and an extraordinary texture. Ultimately, the piece is a handcrafted tour de force from two legendary makers. Jeff Wise shares, "This is when Susan and I were really starting to make cool pieces as a team. She would have done most of the metalwork. All stones are untreated and include Louisiana fossilized palm wood in the middle, turquoise on the left and Oregon Bruneau jasper on the right. Its a great piece that makes an interesting addition to our Patina presence."
