Gray hand coiled micaceous clay - Circa 2013
A stunning work to behold, derived from the earth and transformed into spiritual inspiration. Renowned Native artist, Lonnie Vigil molds clay found from the Nambé Oweenge Pueblo in New Mexico to create contemporary works of compelling vision. A subtle, yet immensely elegant work of art that emanates distinction. Vigil attends to his exquisite creation coil by coil to reveal the more intimate nature of its artistic design. With finely rounded shape, its body extends to a smooth and undulated opening at the top of the composition. With defining line and serene curvature, this work is enough the calm the most ardent soul. In the light, its darkened surface shimmers as mica dances in the wake of the sun. Quite a lovely piece to warm the heart in every soul-stirring engagement.
