6-6 Series, Encaustic Monotype, wax, paper on freestanding wooden frame
Using careful thought and precision, Suzy Wahl creates an artful assemblage of encaustic monotypes. Using a warmed glass plate, she draws her composition with the use of colored wax. With satisfaction, she presses strong paper onto its waxen surface to reveal a mirror image of her mind's intention. Creating pieces of art with unique, compelling personality.
A tropical landscape is exquisitely depicted using a selected array of value and shape in this piece by Wahl. Through a deep terrain of blood orange, variegated shade and texture illustrate the details of a lush forest sphere. Green espies through the thicket of illusive shapes, forming the canopy of the dense woodland. An impressive, etched shape in the facets of tree bark purvey the area to the right of the composition, adding dimension to the form. A pleasurable scene, hearkening quiet, blissful solitude on a summer's eve.
