Painted pine, 2024
Cardinale's sculpture "Our Lady of Light" is a captivating work of art, emblematic of his ability to blend religious devotion with minimalist elegance. The Virgin Mary, painted on the front of the scuplture, exudes serenity and radiance. The natural grain of the pine peeks through the painted surface, lending an organic, authentic feel to the chapel and grounding the piece in the earthy simplicity.
Cardinale finishes the composition with a drawer on the front of the piece. Upon opening, Cardinale’s wife PJ, of over 50 years, composes a mix-media collage paying homage to the church.
